Broccoli – Fresh Green Broccoli (500g)

Broccoli, called Brokkoli in German, is a green vegetable with a tight cluster of small flower buds on a thick, firm stalk. The florets have a mild, slightly bitter taste and a tender-crisp bite when cooked briefly, while the stalk is sweeter and crunchier.

It is not a traditional Indian vegetable but has become common in Indo-Chinese stir-fries, in a simple broccoli sabzi with garlic and cumin, and in soups and pasta in German cooking. It also works well roasted or steamed as a plain side.

How to use

• Cut the head into florets and peel the tougher outer layer of the stalk before slicing it too.
• Wash well, as the tight florets can trap dirt.
• Keep in the fridge and use within about 4 to 5 days.
